Careers.ohio.gov is a service provided by the State of Ohio. The State recognizes the importance of privacy to our Web site visitors. This notice discloses to our Web site visitors what personal information is being collected on this Web site and how that personal information may be used.

Public Records

Ohio public records law requires state agencies to disclose various documents and records to anyone making a public records request. With limited exceptions, this includes requests for employment applications and attachments such as resumes and letters of recommendation with limited exceptions. Those limited exceptions include but are not limited to Social Security Numbers, personal email addresses and personal phone numbers submitted on employment applications, and we will not disclose those unless otherwise permitted or required by law. What We Collect and How We Collect It

  • Personal information as part of the State of Ohio employment application, such as your contact information, Social Security Number, and work and educational history and relationships.
  • Other personal information provided to us through online forms or e-mail queries. Please do not submit to us sensitive personal information such as social security numbers, driver’s license numbers or medical or financial information through e-mail.
  • Internet-user information including the IP address of the computer or device you are using to access the online service, the type of internet browser or operating system you are using, the date and time you accessed this site, the webpages visited on this site and other ohio.gov sites managed by DAS, and the IP address of the site from which you may have linked to this site. We collect this information through automated monitoring of our Internet systems and services.

Use of Information

Your personal information is being gathered for State of Ohio application and recruitment purposes. The information you provide is used to assess your application for the position(s) for which you applied. Only authorized State of Ohio employees, its authorized contractors, and State of Ohio hiring authorities have access to the information submitted. Your submitted information may be shared across state agencies.

Additionally, please be aware, we may share any information that you submit through this web site with other State of Ohio agencies or other government entities when required or otherwise permitted by law.

Any information collected through this website that indicates a threat of harm to people, property or systems or a violation of a law may be shared with law enforcement and used in connection with a criminal investigation, prosecution or other legal proceedings.
